And she loved a little boy very, very much - even more than she loved herself. - Shel Silverstein, "The Giving Tree"
It started with friendship - conversations and texts rotating through the shared comical adventures of our boys and the struggle of keeping them clothed. It didn't matter that we were 1600 miles apart, that we had never "met", that our life stories were different, that I had three and she had two, it was a shared experience.
It's always been that way for me, I gravitate to mothers raising a house of boy(s). There is simply less explaining to do because they get it, they are walking the same road. Boys are all we know.
It is a unique experience to live life through the lens of the lone female in a household of men and it changes the way we see the world.
One day I gave life to a daydream by sharing it with Amy. What if we brought together a group of like minded mothers? What if we gathered the women that inspire us?
And so we started making our list.
We are a group of mothers who share candid, authentic captures of our lives with boys. We are telling our family story, a story that dramatically changes as our boys grow. We gather in this space twice a month as a collective to share a peek of where the boys are in our lives and in the space between we share longer looks into our lives.
We come together to join in friendship.
We come together to inspire and encourage one another.
We come together to celebrate our boys.
Together we have toddlers, tweens and teens. Across the miles and oceans we are parenting only children and bands of brothers. We tell our stories through photographs and scrapbooks. Our hope is that you will find some encouragement, inspiration and few laughs along the way. Our message is that raising a boy is an amazing, wild ride that is meant to be celebrated for all that it is.
We invite you to join us in this journey.
